outside

The Spoons is 8 miles from Portree, half a mile off the main road to Dunvegan, in the quiet peaceful township of Bernisdale. We have an 8 acre croft on a small peninsula, Aird Bernisdale, with views on the East side over Loch Snizort. From the croft it is a 2 minute walk to the shore and Loch Treaslane on the West side. A walk half a mile down the road to the end of the point ensures beautiful views out over the Minch and on a clear day the Outer Hebrides can be clearly seen.

We have very content chickens, ducks and geese who are friendly and lay wonderful eggs. Ian is the beekeeper and has varying numbers of hives, usually at least 3 sometimes 6 or 8 if it’s a good Summer. This ensures a delicious supply of honey! There is a small flock of Hebridean sheep and they are entertaining and friendly.

The Isle of Skye is much bigger than it seems! There is so much to see and do for everyone, but equally The Spoons is the ideal place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden and on the croft and surrounding area.
